Course description:
The 8th grade Bible History exploratory class will investigate how we got the Bible and examine the Bible’s influence on art, music, literature, and history, specifically the founding of America. The course will include a survey of the Hebrew Scriptures or Old Testament and New Testament, particularly analyze the book of Esther. Students will also explore corresponding geography, maps and the customs of Purim.
Textbook:
The primary textbook for this class is the Bible. Students may use any translation of the Bible. They will access their choice of translation via the website Biblegateway.com, bring their own Bible’s or use my class Bible’s which are New English Standard Bible translation.
Extraordinary Classroom Expectations:
- Students are to come to class ready with iPad charged.
- You will keep a notebook in Evernote that will be shared with me. Each day you will open this notebook and create a note for the day and begin the warm up on the screen..
- Any missed notes or assignments will be available on Mrs. Johnson’s shared Evernote for the class. You are responsible for obtaining and completing any missed work within 3 days of your absence.
- Tardy to class instances are recorded.
- Extraordinary work is expected, with no whining. Respect for others views, opinions, person and property is also expected.
- All school rules and guidelines are to be followed in this classroom as well.
Grading: Tests/Projects count 35% and quizzes/weekly count 65%.
